Options CIL Wheel-a-Thons

Come join Options Center for Independent Living by participating in a Wheel-a-thon Event!

Why a Wheel-a-Thon?

·         Persons with disabilities make up the single largest minority in the United States.

·         Over 5,690 adults ages 16 - 64 in Kankakee and Iroquois counties have a physical disability.

·         Over 3,400 adults ages 16 - 64 in Kankakee and Iroquois counties have a mental disability.

The Wheel-a-Thons are fun-filled fund-raising and awareness events. The events consist of people with and without a disability, forming 4-person teams, who negotiate a 2-mile course while using a wheelchair. There will also be a Community Awareness Fair with information booths, a wheelchair decorating contest, and a post party with refreshments and awards.

Our Wheel-a-Thons raise much needed funds so Options can continue to provide disability programs and services to the Kankakee and Iroquois county areas.  You can help us accomplish this by participating in one of our events. You can become a sponsor, form a team, have an exhibit booth, and participate in our paper mobile campaign. We invite you to help support a cause that benefits local residents in our communities who want to live independently and participate fully in society. All net proceeds from both Wheel-a-Thons stay in Kankakee and Iroquois counties for disability services. Contact Therese Cardosi for more detailed information at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or call 815-936-0100, ext 224.

If you sign up and commit to a team by July 1, 2012, your Team name will be printed on the back of all event shirts and 2 people from your Team will be invited to a free kick-off party with refreshments! Call now for more information, 815-936-0100, ext 224, (voice) or 815-936-0132 (TTY).
